Precautions for using PAM

Precautions for using PAM

26-01-2024

When using PAM, the following points should be noted:

1. Dissolution process:

Solid cationic polyacrylamide cannot be directly added to wastewater, it must be dissolved into a solution first.

The dissolution process should be slowly added and continuously stirred to ensure sufficient dissolution and avoid clumping.

2. Concentration control:

The concentration of the prepared solution is usually 0.1%. If the concentration is too high, it may lead to waste of materials and difficult to evenly add, while if it is too low, it may affect the treatment effect.

3. Matching of sludge properties:

Choose the appropriate cation degree based on the source, characteristics, and composition of sludge. Cationic polyacrylamide is mainly used for dehydration treatment of organic sludge. For sludge with strong acidity and alkalinity, suitable product types should be selected based on pH values.

4. Flocculation regulation:

Adjust the molecular weight of polyacrylamide to achieve the optimal floc size, ensuring that the flocs can effectively drain without being too tight, resulting in a decrease in the degree of clay cake.

5. Flocculant screening:

Before practical application, the optimal type and dosage of cationic polyacrylamide can be determined through small-scale trials to achieve optimal flocculation effect and reduce operating costs.

6. When used in combination with other medications:

If it is necessary to use it in conjunction with other coagulants such as polyaluminum chloride (PAC), the two must be dissolved and mixed separately, added in a specific order, and the dosage ratio and speed must be strictly controlled.
